Getting to know June
My name is June Storer. I've been coaching gymnastics for over 34 years. Our family has lived all over the country so I have taught gymnastics not only in Florida but W.V., MD., TX., CA., UT., and N.J. Coaching children in gymnastics is such a joy in my life. I love it when one of my students gets a new skill! I'm as excited as they are. I was born in Washington, D.C. We moved to Harpers Ferry, WV when I was 5 years old and that is where I grew up. I was a cheerleader in junior high and high school and always loved the gymnastics part of cheerleading. When I went to Ricks College in ID when I was 17, I asked if I could join the gymnastics team just so I could learn more skills. When I was 20 I started coaching gymnastics and I have been coaching over the years ever since as I raised my family. I am the mother of 4 grown sons and have been married to my husband, Joe for almost 36 years. I have 3 beautiful granddaughters from my oldest son, Rob and his wife Kathy. My youngest son , Jesse was a gymnast for over 10 years. The thing I love about working at Twisters is the other coaches and staff I work with. I love associating with them and enjoy learning from them. I love coaching on the rec side, but enjoy knowing that if I have a talented child that is ready to participate on the team side that we truly have amazing team coaches to train that child. Just recently one of the girls I taught and recommended her for team came to me and said, " Thank you, Ms. June for recommending me to team. I love it!" Some things I enjoy at home is watching NCIS and Bones on television. When I have a chance to read I enjoy reading the scriptures and books by the author Harlan Coben. I love eating chocholate even though I probably shouldn't admit to that. I love baking, especially cookies and pies. I was in awe with gymasts like Olga Korbut, Nadia Comaneci and Mary Lou Retton. But, the person I most looked up to as a child and even more so as an adult was my mother! She was such a patient and loving mother and grandmother to my children.
